Notes for grown-ups
Reproduced from page 2 of the book so you can read it before printing.
Drawing and recognising straight lines — vertical, horizontal and diagonal.
How to use
- Start with tracing the dotted lines (use a pencil).
- Then practise drawing the lines freehand between the dots.
- Talk about the direction: up-down (vertical), side-to-side (horizontal), slanted (diagonal).
- Use the identification pages to name the type of line.
- Encourage careful, steady hand movements.
Tips
- Sit the child so the paper is straight.
- Model the stroke first (top to bottom for vertical, left to right for horizontal).
- Praise effort and control, not perfection.
- These pages can be laminated for reuse with dry-erase markers.
