Free art and craft printables that build finger strength

These craft templates are fine motor work in disguise. Finger-Painting & Fingerprint Pages has 25 fingerprint art ideas for kids, from caterpillars and blossom trees to fireworks, with dotted ovals that show where each print goes. Tissue Paper Collage Templates has 24 pictures marked to show where to tear flat pieces and where to scrunch balls, which is excellent pincer-grip practice.

Print on thick paper or thin card so paint and glue do not soak through, and use washable, non-toxic paint.

Questions about art & craft

Is finger painting good for development?

Yes. It builds finger isolation and hand strength, introduces colour mixing, and gives a sensory experience. Pressing single fingerprints accurately is also good control practice.

What do I need for tissue paper collage?

Coloured tissue paper, a glue stick or PVA with a brush, and the template printed on card. Children tear the tissue into small pieces or scrunch it into balls and stick it on.
