Combining straight lines and curved lines in patterns.
How to use
- Look at the pattern that has been started.
- Trace the guide marks if present.
- Continue the pattern in the empty space.
- Talk about what comes next: line, wave, zigzag, loop, arch…
- On free-create pages, invent your own mixed pattern.
Tips
- Point to each part of the pattern and name it.
- Encourage children to say the pattern out loud as they draw.
- Praise when they keep the pattern going correctly.
- These pages work well laminated with dry-erase markers.
